Findlater was medical officer for Hendon and lived in Edgware. During the First World War Findlater was awarded the DSO on 29th September 1915, at Chocolate Hill, Gallipoli Peninsula’. 'Having crossed over two hundred yards of open ground under very heavy shellfire to render aid to two wounded men. He saved the life of one, but the other was beyond help.'
