Old place names like Tinkers Bottom (now Strawberry Vale) and Irish Corner show that Gypsies have been stopping at Finchley for hundreds of years
Seen in 1804 there were a number of private schools in Finchley. Finchley Common was so extensive that this view could be anywhere from Whetstone to East Finchley.
