The building lies at the far end of Scotts Lane on Bromley Road, and is the oldest surviving great house in Shortlands. It is now occupied by Bishop Challoner School. It was originally called Clay Hill. Built in 1702, its first known resident was George Groote, a Greek historian and banker who became MP for the City of London in 1832.
