Terraced cottage style dwellings in Hemans Street, looking east towards Wandsworth Road. These houses were demolished as part of the Hemans Street Estate development, a social housing scheme, one of the first to be embarked on by Lambeth Council to provide quality low cost flats as a nationwide slum-clearance programme during the late1930s. The Fount Street development, immediately south of Hemans Street was inaugurated in October 1947.
