St. Paul’s Chapel was built in1815 as a chapel of ease to the new Holy Trinity parish church to replace the original parish church of Clapham following the increase in the congregation. The architect Christopher Edmonds kept the design simple and cheap and it was built at a cost of \u00c2\u00a35,000.
