Myatt’s Park, also known as Myatt’s Fields, was originally used for market gardening and made into a public open space in the late 1880s. The land was owned by the Minets, a wealthy Huguenot family, and given to the Metropolitan Board of Works for the purpose of developing it as a public park. It was opened by the London County Council on 28 May 1889 and the bandstand was built in 1894.
