Letter from Bertram Hall, a prisoner of war in Germany, to his father in London. ‘Bert’ was captured on 6th June 1940, at Dunkirk aged just 20 years and spent the next 5 years as a POW. He had two failed attempts at escaping, but managed to finally escape in a stolen car to an American supply base.
