The Hall was originally built as part of the Festival of Britain in 1951 at a cost of \u00c2\u00a32 million, to a design by the L.C.C. architect, Robert Matthew. Extensive improvements and additions were undertaken to the Hall in 1962-65 by Hubert Bennett, these walkways were also added then.
