The Cock Tavern was first mentioned in the 1722 parish records. Although rebuilt in 1903, this photograph by Henry Deane shows it c.1860 with road menders outside and shops adjacent. It was renamed the Frog and Forget-me-not in the 1990s. Deane was the local chemist who’s shop at No.17 The Pavement still stands and his pictures are the earliest photographic record of Clapham. In 1843 he married Jemima Elliott who ran a school at Weimar House.
