The parades of shops in Springbank Road were built by Archibald Cameron Corbett from 1900 to serve his huge St Germans Estate. The wall beyond the shops on the right was at the west entrance to Hither Green Station. Corbett helped to pay for this second entrance, as he considered it vital to the success of his estate.
