TRAINING COLLEGE, STOCKWELL ROAD, STOCKWELL

The British and Foreign School Society's New Training College for One Hundred Mistresses on Stockwell Road. The college was designed by William Beck and built in 1861 to train schoolmistresses, with practising schools attached. The building was demolished by the LCC in the 1930s and site used for housing associated with the Stockwell Gardens Estate.Engraving for the Illustrated London News, 29th June 1861.
