Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan (1842 - 1900), Victorian composer and conductor, famous for his comic operas written in collaboration with W.S. Gilbert. Born at No 8 Bolwell Terrace, off Lambeth Walk. His composition 'The Tempest', first performed on the 5th April 1862 at the Crystal Palace, brought him recognition as a classical composer.Photograph from cigarette card series, c.1875
