The Brixton Independent Church, on the corner of Knowles Road and Brixton Road, was built in 1870 to designs by Arthur J Phelps. WWII damage caused it to be closed, but it was purchased and restored by the Catholic Church opening as Our Lady of the Rosary in 1953.
