DARBY AND JOAN CLUB, LEIGHAM COURT ROAD, STREATHAM

Lord Woolton, the wartime Minister of Food, visiting the Darby and Joan Club at No.16 Leigham Court Road. The club opened in December 1942. All the members are old age pensioners, and the club provided a valuable service to the elderly in the community with low cost meals and activities.
