VILLA, CLAPHAM COMMON SOUTH SIDE, CLAPHAM

The Villa of Spencer Meredith stood at Clapham Common South Side and was later called Clapham Lodge, built in 1820. The home of John Wild during the period 1835 - 1854, a successful and wealthy city wine merchant. The building, with later modification stillstands, set back from the South Side. Engraving published in ' Peacock's Polite Repository and Pocket Companion', 1822.
