RUSKIN PARK, LOUGHBOROUGH JUNCTION

RUSKIN PARK, LOUGHBOROUGH JUNCTION

The terracotta sundial, decorated with Tudor roses, commemorates a visit by the composer Mendelssohn to Dane House in 1842. This was the home of a relative, F.C.Bebecke, and during this stay he wrote the 'Spring Song'. The house was demolished to make way for the park which opened in 1907.
