Hannah Barlow (1851 - 1913), was the most famous Doulton artist who maintained an incredible level of output and variety throughout her career. Like her brother and sister, Florence, she was a student at Lambeth School of Art in Miller Lane, off Upper Kennington Lane. In 1871 she became the first female to be employed by Henry Doulton. Her best period was between the 1870's and the late 1880's when she produced some of the best examples of Doulton decorative stoneware. She lost the use of her right hand early in her career and retrained herself to use her left.
