BROWN INSTITUTION, WANDSWORTH ROAD, VAUXHALL

Founded in 1871, the Brown Institution was the first animal hospital and veterinary research laboratory in the country. Named after Thomas Brown, who left the sum of £20 000 to the University of London for its charitable trust. The hospital was closed after being bombed five times during the Second World War.
