BURIAL GROUND, PARADISE STREET, LAMBETH

The entrance to the burial ground located opposite to the parish church of St. Mary, Lambeth. The ground was made up from land given by Archbishop Tenison c.1703 and an additional area purchased by an Act of Parliament. The last burial here was in 1853 and after years of neglect, the Lambeth Vestry proposed in 1884 to turn the ground into a pleasure garden.
