CHRIST CHURCH, BRIXTON ROAD, BRIXTON NORTH

Christ Church, Brixton Road. Originally a chapel of ease to St.Marks, Kennington from 1835, the building became dilapidated and over-crowded and was demolished in 1896. It was replaced with a new church of 'Byzantine-Romanesque' design with a large dome over the centre of a cruciform plan, dedicated in 1907 and is a listed grade II building. Photograph from The Borough Pocket Guides, No 447 for Lambeth, 1910.
