Clarence House, originally Clarence Villa was built c.1831 to the east of Clarence Avenue. The seven acres it occupied included stables, piggeries, a cucumber house, a melon house and a coach house. This view of the house from the back garden shows it in a derelict condition prior to being demolished as part of a social housing programme by the local authority and replaced by Clapham Park Estate. Photograph taken on April 21st 1950.
