Sketch plan of the Royal Brunswick Gardens at Brunswick House run by Mr S King. The lawns and walks were surrounded with private boxes, an orchestra stage and several bars. Admission to the grounds was one shilling and access was from either Wandsworth Road or Vauxhall Pier. Brunswick House was built in 1758 as Belmont House by John Dawson and in 1811 the main portion was bought by the Duke of Brunswick, brother of the Prince Regent's wife Caroline. It was purchased by the South Western Railway Company in 1854-5 and used thereafter as an institute and club for railway workers. The house is now a showroom for the Lassco architectural salvage firm and adjacent garden area the site of the St George Wharf development.Ink and watercolour drawing, dated 1844.
