Scene of a fireworks explosion on February 28th 1842 at the premises of D'Ernst, firework manufacturer, on Princes Street. An illustration in a newspaper article covering the incident shows the entire premises enveloped in smoke with flames and debris rising into the air, and the unfortunate people who were trapped inside. Note the windmill behind the factory. Article in a contemporary journal published on Saturday, March 12, 1842.
