EAGLE HOUSE, SOUTH SIDE CLAPHAM COMMON, CLAPHAM

Eagle House, Clapham Common South Side, viewed across the lawns at the back of the house. It was the home of William Edgar, founder of the department store, Swan & Edgar in 1820. Demolished in 1899, except for a small part, previously the billiard room, in Narbonne Avenue, which still survives as offices.
