Springwell House, No 80 North Side, was built for Roger Lee in 1819, the overseer of the Surrey Highways and was probably named after the well on Clapham Common. The additional ornamental stonework to the original brick villa was added by John Bowman, who lived here from1859 to 1875. It has a distinctive side entrance portico and a coach house which was used as an open-air school for children suffering from tuberculosis between 1919 and 1939. Now a gradeII listed building it is Parkgate House School.
