St. Paul's Chapel was built in1815 as a chapel of ease to the new Holy Trinity parish church to replace the original parish church of Clapham following the increase in the congregation. The architect Christopher Edmonds kept the design simple and cheap and it was built at a cost of £5,000. An east end addition by Sir Arthur Blomfield in 1875 included a transcept and apsidal sanctuary.Lithograph by H.Hill and I Miller, published by David Batten, for the Public Library, Clapham Common.
