Loughborough Road, looking north from the junction with Wiltshire and Akerman Road towards a row of mid-Victorian terraced properties. Nunns Bros., wine and grocery shop, is seen on the left with Shaw and Strachan, chemists, on the opposite corner. Though most of the buildings in this picture still exist the area has altered considerably as it lies at the centre of many large housing estates built from the middle of the 20th century to meet the post-war housing shortage, and are still being built at the start of the 21st century.
