JOFFA MAGAZINE, COVER OF THE NOVEMBER ISSUE

Joffa Magazine cover. The 'Jamaican Overseas Family and Friends Association' magazine lasted into the 1970s, and covered articles of interest to the growing West-Indian population in Britain, included a very comprehensive section on sport. The cover shows Miss Joffa 1967, Margo Glee, being crowned by the previous years winner, Nicola Lodge. Note the use of the colours of the Jamaican flag seen here on the left. The editor, Theo Campbell, O.D., also ran the first black record shop at 250 Brixton Road. The Order of Distinction was presented to him by the Jamaican government to recognise Mr Campbell's work with the Jamaican and West Indian community overseas. He became the first recipient living abroad to receive this honour.
