CLAPHAM LIBRARY, CLAPHAM COMMON NORTH SIDE, CLAPHAM

Clapham Library, Clapham Common North Side, was built in 1889, to a design entitled 'light' by the architect E.B.I'Anson. The library was opened by Lord Avebury on 31st October 1889. The landing to the first floor, seen here, was accessed by a wide, curved staircase leading to a large well illuminated room originally used for lectures and meetings.
