Taken in July 1929, looking towards the north, the photograph shows end of the Memorial Hall and most of the boys' houses. The boys' schoolrooms were on the top floor. In the foreground is the mound which together with the fixed staging (out of shot - to the left) was used to stage pageants and gymnastic drills during the annual Festivals held on Founder's Day, a date near to Charles Haddon Spurgeon's birthday - 19 June.
