SPURGEON’S CONVALESCENT HOME, MARGATE, KENT

An engraving taken from Within Our Gates, Summer 1900, the quarterly magazine of the Spurgeon's Orphanage. The picture shows the seaside home in Cliftonville, Margate, Kent that was opened in 1899. The seaside home provided a home and kindergarten school for very little children, a sanatorium to which delicate children were sent from the orphanage from time to time, and a convalescent home for children of the orphanage recovering from illness.
