The main entrance to St Thomas' Hospital as seen from the elevated walkway leading to Westminster Bridge. The hospital was first constructed on this site fronting the Thames soon after the Albert Embankment was built between 1869 -1871. Some of these buildings survived bomb damage during World War II and there has been continuous development since. Digital image courtesy of Penelope Gretton, 2005.
