Harold Bullbrook (centre) with his son Bernie and Canadian soldiers, Charlie Purdon and Frank Cox, in the garden of the family home at Selsdon Road, West Norwood. The soldiers were from the Royal Canadian Regiment and were billeted at the Fidelis Convent. They were invited to Christmas lunch by Bulbrook's in 1943. Charlie Purdon was later taken prisoner at Dieppe and Frank Cox was wounded in Belgium late in 1944 and recuperated with the Bullbrooks.
