Newspaper clipping featuring St Mark's Vicarage, 54 Kennington Oval. Field Marshall Lord Viscount Montgomery of El Alamein was born at St. Mark's Vicarage on 17th November 1887, his father was The Right Rev. Bishop Montgomery. Shown in the photograph is his uncle, the vicar of St Mark's, with his aunt. The Vicarage was originally a brick late Georgian house of 1794-5 and the first vicar to resided here was the Rev. Charlton Lane in 1837. The house has since been much altered.Taken from The Sunday Express 25th May 1943
