Aerial view of Neville's Bakery in Milkwood Road, Herne Hill. The housing was part of a large development in the 1870s, providing homes for 3,000 people and the bakery provided employment for many of the local residents. The area suffered bombing during World War II due to its proximity to the railway lines and post-war temporary prefabricated housing is visible along Heron Road to the right. The site was cleared in 1976 and replaced by is now occupied by a school and an open space.
