GENERAL LYING-IN HOSPITAL, YORK ROAD, WATERLOO

The General Lying-In Hospital was built in 1828. Originally founded in 1765 by Dr John Leake as a charitable institution for poor women from urban slums. The hospital closed in 1971 and was refurbished in 2003 as offices.33
