WEST SIDE OF GIPSY HILL, UPPER NORWOOD

WEST SIDE OF GIPSY HILL, UPPER NORWOOD

West side of Gipsy Hill, Upper Norwood, looking north towards the City. Originally named King William IV Hill after a public house on the hill, it was later renamed to commemorate the gipsy encampments on Norwood Common. A Mrs Lee, who lived next to the pub, was said to be the last of the Norwood gipsies. Photographed 26th March 2004. Digital image courtesy of Keith Holdaway, 2004.
