Programme for a 1944 wartime production by the Dramatic Society of 'The Cradle Song' in aid of St Peter's Church Clapham at the Clapham Literary Institute, Henry Thornton School, Elms Road, Clapham. The annotation notes that the performance was 'abandoned due to flying bombs'. Brenda Hargreaves, one of the cast, recalls another incident: "My maiden name was Brenda Rockett, which wasn't a very popular name back in those days during the war....I attended evening classes in drama....it was a huge relaxation for me to take part in amateur theatricals. We once put on a performance of 'Dangerous Corner' and a window of St Mary's Hall, Clapham was blown in and we had to make some hasty repairs to keep the draught out."Digital image by kind permission of Brenda Hargreaves.
