William Blake's house at 13 Hercules Road, Lambeth (renumbered as No.23). Blake (1751 -1827) was a poet and artist of renown, who lived in Hercules Buildings with his wife Catherine from 1790 - 1800. Here he wrote some of his most well-known poems including 'The Tyger' from 'Songs of Experience', and 'America'. The house was demolished c.1917-18, and the memorial plaque seen here has been resited on a block of flats built on the site.From 'Wonderful London' edited by St. John Adcock, published by The Educational Book Club c.1925.
