The wedding of Eileen Welch and Joe Malcolm at St Thomas's Church, Telford Park, Streatham on 9th September 1945. Joe was away at war in North Africa and Italy for four years and married Eileen within one week of returning. She was to be married in her army uniform, but was lent a friend's wedding dress for the occasion. Their wedding cake had to be made from ingredients purchased with rationing coupons gathered from friends and relatives.Digital image by kind permission of Marian Gower.
