Immanuel Church seen from across Streatham Common. The church was designed by the architect Benjamin Ferry and was substantially enlarged in 1865. The side chapel was added in 1876 to increase the seating capacity to accommodate over 1000 persons. The main part of the church was demolished in 1987 and a new, smaller church was built adjacent to the tower. The London County Council created the children's paddling pool in the foreground, replacing a natural pond that was used for watering livestock.Digital image by kind permission of Graham Gower.
