The Tudor brick gatehouse at Lambeth Palace is known as Morton's Tower, named after Cardinal Morton who built it c.1490. The Palace has been the London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury since 1197 and the centre of the Church of England and the Anglican Community. The lantern of the Great Hall, built in the 1660s, can be glimpsed on the right, as can the 14th century tower of St Mary's church.Digital image courtesy of Penelope Gretton.
