ELDER ROAD HOUSING, WEST NORWOOD

ELDER ROAD HOUSING, WEST NORWOOD

Foundations being laid for post-war housing in 1947. These houses were built on former allotments as part of the Elder Road Estate using the latest prefabricated techniques. The buildings in the background were originally built as the Lambeth House of Industry for Infant Poor, later to become Norwood Schools and demolished during the 1970s to make way for the Woodvale Estate.
