Mrs Eliza Beaufoy, the wife of Henry Beaufoy who founded the new Ragged School in her memory. She was a supporter of the school when it was held beneath an adjacent railway arch. Eliza died in 1847 and this portrait by unknown artist was engraved as a celebration gift associated with the opening of the new school in Doughty Street (now Newport Street) in March of 1851.
