39-43 OLD TOWN, CLAPHAM

The Queen Anne houses at 39, 41 and 43 Old Town, Clapham, were built in 1706 by Daniel Clarke. Photographed here prior to their 1970s restoration. The plaque on No.43 is for J.F.Bentley, the architect of Westminster Cathedral, who lived here 1876-96. The artist and collector of Japansese prints, M.H.Lapidge also lived in the same house from 1896-1902. Photograph by M.D.Trace, dated March 1966.
