INTERIOR, DEANE’S CHEMIST, THE PAVEMENT, CLAPHAM

Assorted objects from Mr Deane's chemist shop, 17 The Pavement, Clapham, photographed inside the building. The earlier photograph records the interior as it was. Deane was the local chemist and a keen amateur photographer. His pictures are the earliest photographic record of Clapham and this shop at still stands today. In 1843 he married Jemima Elliott, who ran a school at Weimar House. He also became a churchwarden. Scan from negative from the Clapham Antiquarian Society.
