View south-west down Auckland Street, Vauxhall. The area was once densely populated with terraced houses and tenement blocks, which were gradually cleared from the 1960s onwards. Initial proposals by the Council included flyovers and a shopping centre, but due to lack of funding the site was left as a grassed open space. Vauxhall Tavern on the right, survived demolition.
