THOMAS CUBITT MONUMENT, NORWOOD CEMETERY, WEST NORWOOD

Monument to Thomas Cubitt (1788-1855) founder of the construction firm and builder of many speculative estates in Belgravia, Pimlico, Bloomsbury and Clapham. He rebuilt the east front of Buckingham Palace in 1847 and Osborne House in 1848. His wife Mary Anne and several of his children also lie buried here with him. Photograph by Eric de Mare
