The Kenyon Baptist Chapel, Solon Road, was built in memory of the builder William Higgs (1825-83) by his family. He gave the land to the London Baptist Association shortly before his death and the foundation stone was laid by C.H.Spurgeon on 7th November 1884. The terracotta decorations on the 'Decorated Gothic' facade were produced by J. Stiff & Sons of Lambeth. The church is now known as the Brixton Baptist Chapel. The view is opposite from Solon New Road before the streets were realigned.Photograph by Sam Lambert.
