HIGHWAYMEN ROBBERIES, KENNINGTON & VAUXHALL

Three newspaper clippings of robberies by highwaymen around Vauxhall and Kennington:Mr Jackson, Master of the Glass-House, Vauxhall was robbed in his post-chaise by a highwayman on a bald-faced horse near to the turnpike in 1754.Another man in 1800 was robbed of £200 near The Horns at Kennington, the thief 'trotted away down Vauxhall Road'. Frank Hugonin was attacked and robbed by 'three footpads dressed in blue surtout coats' near the Vauxhall turnpike.
